Minot’s Racine Wins NWCA Coach of the Year For North Dakota

Minot High head coach Justin Racine has been named the National Wrestling Coaches Association Coach of the Year for the state of North Dakota.  Racine led the Minot High Magicians, his alma-mater, to the 2017 North Dakota State individual team championship in the Fargodome this past February.  The title was Minot’s first on the mat since 1993.  During the course of the season, Racine led Minot to an undefeated WDA dual record that included a win over perennial state power Bismarck High School.
Though Minot High had fantastic regular season, the run to an individual team state title was especially magical.  The Magi recorded what will go down as one of the most impressive wrestle back performances in state history, running down the Bismarck Demons from almost seventy points back on the final day of the tournament.  Six Magi wrestled back to third place.  Racine’s team also crowned one individual state champion in 126 Brody Armstrong.
