Sertoma Dual Tournament, the lone bracketed dual tournament in the state of North Dakota, is set to kick off Friday afternoon at Grand Forks Central High School.  Teams from North Dakota Class A and B, as well as AA and A Minnesota will be on display starting 3:00 PM.  Perham,MN  won last season’s Sertoma with in dominant fashion, 53-21 over Thief River Falls, MN.

The usual suspects like Perham and Century will be in the the mix to bring home a team title, but fans should also pay attention to host Grand Forks Central, Valley City, Jamestown, and Central Cass. My favorite first round matchup is Central Cass and Valley City. The Squirrels are putting a fantastic team on the mat with solid wrestlers at each weight class and depth not matched by most teams in North Dakota regardless of class. Valley City also has a strong lineup top to bottom. Especially pay attention to the 106 pound match, where Valley City’s Koye Grebel could tilt with #1 ranked Squirrel Jake Deutsch.

Jamestown has the best team they’ve had in years, and coming off a pounding to at Bismarck High last night, I expect the Blue Jays to wrestle angry this weekend. They are my dark horse finalist on the bottom half of the bracket.

If Perham is as strong as they hav been the last few years, they should roll to a team title, but there is a lot to follow this weekend in Grand Forks.
