2017 undefeated state champion Clayton Grueneich of Ellendale-Edgeley-Kulm will miss his senior wrestling season after having shoulder surgery last Friday. The Class A football senior athlete of the year, Grueneich was one of the most dominant wrestlers on the mat last year.
Class B 106 is starting to take shape after the first weekend of tournaments. Kindred’s Carter Schmitz is the clear-cut number one wrestler in the state, but Gunnar Mogen of Velva and Larimore’s Robert Norman showed they will be in the mix after nice performances at Velva.
*Wrestlers are ranked where they wrested at in tournament competition. A wrestler will be moved to a lower weight class once he or she has competed in that class, and not before. Individuals that have not wrestled in a match this season are not ranked, and will be added to the rankings once they compete.
