Barnhardt, Boese, and Franek Register Dominant Performances at Lions

The Mandan Lions brought out strong early season performances from some of North Dakota’s best talent.  St. Mary’s Central’s Reece Barnhardt, Bismarck’s Laken Boese, and West Fargo’s Jared Franek registered bonus points in every single match.

Franek, who is currently ranked fifth in the country at 152 pound by Flowresting, scored falls in all seven of his bouts.  He discussed pinning everyone, and what the experience of attending the Mandan Lions was like.

At 113 pounds, Barnhardt defeated Rapid City Stevens state placer Cody Stockman in pool play and the tournament finals by matching major decisions.  Barnhardt spoke about his goals for the upcoming season and what he is working on in the practice room.

Boese, last year’s 106 pound state champion out of Bismarck High, got himself into a bit of trouble against second ranked crosstown rival Devin Schulz.  Boese got into a bit of danger early in the match, but rebound to score a third period fall.
