Ream and Fogarty both disposed of South Dakota State foes in their finals bouts. Ream by 8-3 decision over Luke Zilverberg and Fogarty by 10-0 major decision over Logan Peterson.
At 197, Bison RS Sophomore Cordell Eaton was dominant throughout and finished with a 15-5 major decision victory over Chase O’Connor of Minnesota.
NDSU fans didn’t get to see a matchup between top heavyweights Dan Stibral and Brandon Metz, as the two shared the championship. Both had strong showings over the course of the day.
South Dakota State’s Colten Carlson played the spoiler role at 149, stopping a potential rematch between Bison seniors Mitch Bengtson and Kyle Gliva. Carlson pinned Gilva in the semifinals before winning the final over Bengtson via injury default. Gliva won the 149 pound wrestleoff last weekend and is likely to be the guy for the Bison next Friday at Iowa.
