The University of Mary scored a win Wednesday 21-15 over the home Minot State Beavers. Mary started strong with bonus point victories in the first four weight classes, starting with a 15-6 major decision for Bismarck native Nate Humann over Dean Arevalo. From there Tate Barnhardt scored a fall in 6:36, and both Hunter Eckert and Rudy Guillen scored major decisions to give the Marauders an 18-0 lead. The home team Beavers took control from that point, winning five of the last six matches to even the match score 5-5. The difference in the match was Mary’s bonus points, as no Beaver was able to score more than a decision. Zach Berry got things started for Minot State with a 10-8 victory over Mary’s Jordan Hegel, and senior Mitch Eull scored a 3-1 victory over Dom Tudor to finish the dual on a high note.
Minot State is at the Bison Open this Saturday in Fargo, while Mary travels to Dakota Weslyan.
