Tech Team’s DeBlaere Wins Middle School National Title

Chase DeBlaere, who finished sixth in the state as a seventh grader at 106 pounds for Davies High School last season, won a preseason national title in the 112 pound Middle School division Sunday at the UNI Dome.  DeBlaere finished the day 5-0 with three pins, including a :33 second pin in the finals.  In that final match, DeBlaere came through the middle on a double leg right off the whistle for two before muscling his opponent over with a nasty power half for the fall.  DeBlaere used the same recipe in defeating semifinal opponent Brandt Bombard of Pinnacle (MN) by fall in 2:05.

North Dakota’s other Middle School All American was Bismarck’s Chance Davis.  Wrestling in the 144 pound weight division, Davis made a strong run to the semifinals before losing a tight 8-6 overtime decision to Christian Carroll of Indiana.  Davis was injured in that bout and forced to default to sixth place.

In the third and fourth grade division, Wyatt Kosidowski of Fargo elite finished third.  Kosidowski went 4-1 on the day in taking All American honors.
