Junior Jake Green and Sophomore Austin Eichmann will battle for this spot during the early stage of the season. Green is entering his third year with the Marauders and has varsity experience up a weight at 184 and even 197 over the last two seasons. Green provides lineup experience and strength from the top position. Eichmann’s freshman season wasn’t what it could have been as a result of a hand injury that left him out of the lineup for two month. The Hastings, MN state finalist made it back in time to compete at 197 in the Super Regional, but was undersized and not at peak performing ability. Eichmann is a gamer to the highest degree, and at his ideal weight class of 174 could be very good for Mary should he win the spot. Providing depth with be junior from Sartell, MN Jon Pelach. Pelach has also seen time in the lineup in the past two seasons.

An emphasis for Head Coach Adam Aho last season was increasing depth at 184 and 197. Four true freshman are in the Marauder room at those weights, and two will battle it out for the 184 pound spot this season. Jackson Schichel, a state placer from Hastings Minnesota, will look to grab the spot in wrestle offs with Gerardo (Lalo) Jaime, a state qualifier from Spring Valley, California. Schichel is strong from the neutral position as a frehsman and should only improve as he sees more Division 2 competition. Jaime’s motor is non stop. He wrestles hard through all positions, and creates tons of offensive opportunities as a result.
