Jordan Hegel is a wrestler that Mary Head Coach Adam Aho has always felt had the talent to compete with the best wrestlers in the NSIC. The problem has been keeping Hegel healthy and on the mat. Over the course of the last five years, Hegel has had three seasons cut short due to injury. If the Missoula, MT native can remain in the lineup, Mary has itself a strong lineup piece. Hegel is a long wrestler with strong mat wrestling skills that will serve him well in a region that is full of great mat wrestlers. Expect Hegel to a strong push for the lineup spot from junior Jakob Weisbrod. Weisbrod, from Clark, SD, has had success in this spot for the Marauders in the past, but has also struggles with staying in the lineup. Alabama native Chris Leatherman will provide more depth and experience at the weight.

Redshirt freshman Phillip Springsteen did not compete last season due to knee injury. That said, Aho has been very excited about his potential since recruiting out of Graham, WA two years ago. Like Hegel, Springsteen is also a fabulous mat wrestler, and could be the most valuable newcomer to the Marauder lineup this season. Behind Springsteen is former Mandan, ND wrestler Jason Moore, who competed his senior season in the state of Arizona. Moore is loaded with talent, and it is still undecided whether he will redshirt. Another redshirt freshman to watch is Luis Alvarado of Hesperia, CA.
