Last year the Hi-Liners won the first Conference title in program history, they will look to go back to back this season in the EDC. Leading the way for Valley City was longtime varsity starter and head coach’s son Parker Larson. Larson was able to clinch his first state title and his presence in the varsity lineup will be missed. Apart from Larson, the Hi-Liners were a considerably young team, and they return seven state placers. Koye Grebel looks to be the most promising in the bunch to win a state title, at last year’s state tournament Koye came up short in a controversial 106 finals bout to Bismarck’s L.J. Araujo. The Hi-Liner’s also have returning placers in Ethan Miller, Ezre Hanse, Broden Muske, Jonathan Redfearn, Jonah Schuldheisz, and Carson McGough. Other note worthy returners for the Hi-Liners would be Tyson Hovland, who came down with some sickness the week of the state tournament last year and Koltyn Grebel. Koltyn is younger brother to Koye and has a list of youth wrestling accomplishments a mile long. Koltyn was a bit undersized for 106 last season and was still able to make some noise and qualify for the state tournament. If Koltyn was able to become a full sized 106 over the off season him and older brother Koye could turn out to be a dynamic duo for the Hi-Liners at 106. Valley City should be the favorite to repeat for an EDC title.
