Lisbon Broncos Crowned King of B Duals

DzfdVIqWoAE_uLuIn the end, the Lisbon Broncos simply had too much depth for the New Salem/Almont Holsteins.  New Salem certainly scored some major blows, but like any great prize fighter the Broncos countered with haymakers of their own.  In the first match of the dual, NS/A’s #3 Isaiah Huus was able to score a 3-2 overtime decision over #5 Levi Schwab to give the Holsteins a 3-0 dual lead.  After that match, Lisbon won six matches in a row  starting with a :31 second fall at 195 from #3 Gavin Reinke over Keaton Smith.  Lisbon won the coin flip, so they were able to match #1 ranked heavyweight Ben Shearer with NS/A’s #5 ranked 220 Adam Morman (Shearer weighs in at 220). Shearer got a 9-1 major decision, and 220 Sam Rieger got a major of his own 9-0 over Holsteon heavyweight AJ Heins.  The Broncos then rolled out a technical fall from #1 ranked 106 Boeden Greenley, a pin from #1 ranked 113 Caleb Nielsen, and a pin from 120 Brody Aberle to make the dual score 31-3 at the midway point.  New Salem was able to cut the dual score to 30-15 with back to back pins from state champions Clay Gerhardt and Tayt Wolding, but a forfeit from the Holsteins at 138 to #4 Hunter Schwab pushed the Lisbon lead back to 21.  The dual was rightfully put on hold for an extended period at 145 when Lisbon’s Zane Gruba was slammed to the mat.  Gruba was taken from the Fargodome by ambulance, and Lisbon was awarded six team points because of the illegal more.  When things resumed, Lisbon had clinched the dual title, but three matches remained.  In one of the most impressive performances of the weekend.  NS/A’ Chauncey Dittus bumped from his normal weight at 145 and scored a major decision over undefeated and #1 ranked Jordan Sours.  NS/A 152 Josh Irwin then scored a pin up at 160 before Lisbon’s Avery Dick ended the dual with a decision.  Lisbon won by a final score of 46-25.
