Minot State’s Mitch Eull was Super Region Central Champion at 285 pounds last weekend, and now his path to a national championship is known. As a Super Region champion, Eull draws the fourth seed from another region and would not wrestle another super region champ until the semifinals. In the first round, the redshirt senior from Buffalo, MN (St. Michael-Albertville) will wrestle Limestone’s Daniel Bland. Bland finished fourth in the Midwest Super Regional and enters the national tournament with a 20-14 record. A win over Bland would mean a quarterfinal matchup with with either Caleb Cotter (Central Oklahoma) or Terrance Fanning (Wheeling Jesuit). Cotter was runner-up in the west super regional and ranked fourth in the country in the final D2 poll of the season. The other region champion on Eull’s side of the bracket is Dylan Falkenberg of the University of Indianapolis. Falkenberg was east super region champion and enters NCAA’s with a 28-2 record. The top heavyweight in the nation, Notre Dame’s Kameron teacher, is on the top half of the bracket.
The NCAA Division II championships are set for March 9-10 in Cedar Rapids, IA.
