Behind 27-7, The Carrington Cardinals won six of the finals seven bouts and defeated Lisbon Friday afternoon. The Cardinals will wrestle unseeded South Border who defeated #3 Hillsboro/Central Valley to continue their dual tournament run of upsets.
Needing a spark down 20, Carrington got it from 106 Treston Lura at 106. Lura didn’t win, but battled #3 Bowden Greenley to a decision. From there Carrington got bonus points in four matches in a row, plus an upset at 138 from Michael Clifton over Lisbon semifinalist Hunter Schwab on a controversial clasping call at the end of the match. Lisbon was deducted a team point after that match to make the dual score 32-26 Carrington with two matches to go.
Lisbon #1 Jordan Sours scores a 3-1 victory at 145 to cut the dual score to 32-29, but Tate Hoggarth sealed the upset with a 4-2 win over Tristen Howard.
South Border advanced with a 45-29 victory.
