Of all the Region 2 titles Carrington has won in recent history, the one in 2018 may prove to be the sweetest.  The Cardinals, who have dealt with adversity since day one of the season but continued to battle each week, edged Hillsboro/Central Valley 217-201 in what was the most hotly contested regional tournament of the weekend.  The Cardinals placed eight wrestlers into the finals, scoring titles from Zach Broadwell (132), Austin Hendrickson (145), and Kaden Wolsky (182), and runner-up performances from a two Lura’s, two Hogarth’s, and a Buskness.  In total, the Cardinals are sending eleven wrestlers through to Fargo.  In the feature match of the evening at 182, Kaden Wolsky upended Pembina County North’s Austin Urlaub for the second time in as many weeks, this time by 8-3 decision.

Second place Hillsboro/Central Valley, who edged Carringotn for the Region 2 dual crown last weekend, scored four champions in Luke Leshuk (106), Mark Hastings (170), Jake Connelly (220), and Seth Owens (285).

Coming off a disappointing finish at East-West last weekend, Harvey-Wells County’s Isaac Felchle proved that he is still in the thick of the state title talk with wins over ranked wrestlers Kyle Alfson and Brecken Lura.  Each of those three wrestlers will likely be seeded in the top six in Fargo next week.
