Minot State got off to a nice start in the second semester. The Beavers won eight of ten matches-including two by bonus-and cruised to a 28-8 victory. Scoring bonus points were Tanner Crissler at 149 and Mitch Eull at 285. Crissler, a Belcourt ND, graduate, scored a first period fall in his bout with Wahpeton native Jacob Berg at 149 pounds, while Eull won a 9-1 major decision at 285.
Beavers head coach Evan Forde has preached “total team” effort as a goal since the beginning of the season, and he got just that Friday evening. The Bevers won four matches by three or fewer points.
“We had an inspired effort,” Forde noted to NDwrestle the day after the match. “Getting a whole team effort isn’t easy, but it is something that is on our control”
Grinding out all those tight victories also showed Forde that his squad is ready for the second half in another respect as well.
“We are in great shape, so we wanted to use that to our advantage,” Forde noted. “I think we did that last night and it was why we had so much confidence in those tight matches.
