Morgan Strandberg and Elizabeth Massine represented North Dakota Girls wrestling at Conflict at Carver Saturday at Carver Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa. Strandberg, wrestling in the middle school 105 pound division, dropped her first bout 2-0 before winning three in a row and placing third out of eight entrants. She is currently an eighth grader at Jim Hill Middle School in Minot.
Lizzie Massine, who qualified for the North Dakota state tournament last February for the Velva Aggies, finished in fifth place with a 3-2 record. After dropping her first bout to second place finisher Emalie Olson of the Missouri Women’s national team, Massine scored two first period falls in the wrestle backs to advance to the consolation semifinals. In that bout, Massine was defeated by Kennedy Shropshire of Atlanta National Team 7-2. Massine then scored another fall in the fifth place bout over Sisters of the Mat’s Jasmine Howard.
