Three North Dakota wrestlers remain after the first day of Cadet Greco Roman competition at the Fargodome. Bismarck’s Ryan Ripplinger and Chase Dockter, who garnered Freestyle All American honors two days ago, as well as Mandan Sophomore Jacob Boehm, are still alive entering tomorrow’s quarterfinal round. Ripplinger and Dockter have yet to drop a match and will need three more victories to bring home titles. Boehm is alive in the 195 wrestlebacks needing two more victories to get on the podium.
In the Women’s Junior Freestyle division, Sophie Smith has rolled her second place finish in the Cadet division into a 2-0 start at a level higher. Entering the round of 16, Smith has two shutout 10-0 victories to her name. Fargo’s Haley Rohrich is the only other North Dakotam remaining. Rohrich was 1-1 yesterday with a pin in the first wrestle back round.
