North Dakota State University finished fifth at the Southern Scuffle in Chattanooga, TN.  The Bison were led by a runner-up finish from 133 Cam Sykora.  Sykora wrestled Rutgers freshman Sammy Alvarez in the finals.  Sykora scored a go-behind takedown in the first period and secured riding time, but Alvarez used some savvy scrambling and two takedowns to storm back and win the bout 5-4.

Joining Sykora on the podium were Brandon Metz (285), Dan Stibral (285), Jaden Van Maanen (149), Jared Franek (157), and Luke Weber (157).  Weber lost his morning semifinal bout 8-2 to Jesse Dellavecchia.  Weber scored the first takedown in that match, but was undone by some savvy top wrestlers from Rutgers’s Dellavecchia.  Weber would go on to finish fifth.

After losing in the quarterfinals, 285 Brandon Metz advanced to the third place match with two falls and decision.  In that third place match, Metz gave up an early takedown to #10 Demetrius Thomas before falling by 4-0 decision.
