Defending North Dakota Class A State Individual Champions Bismarck High looked strong in their first tournament of the new year. The Demons, led by six individual champions, score 338.5 points over the course of the two-day Lions. Second place Pierre T.F. Riggs was second with 320. Third place Sturgis was nearly eighty points behind the leaders. The Demons got titles from state champions brothers Christian and Wilfried Tanefeu and 113 and 120 pounds respectively, while Kaden Renner marked himself a state title contender at 132 with a strong 10-3 victory over #1 Devin Schulz of Century. Returning to tournament action from a season ending injury last season, Gage Roaldson won the 170 pound bracket with a 10-5 decision over Caleb Brink of Rapid City Stevens. Brock Fettig and New Salem transfer Isaiah Huus also won titles for the Demons.
Two other Capital City wrestlers brought home titles. along with the six Demons. Reece Barnhardt dominated the 126 pound weight class to the tune of five technical falls and a pin. Barnhardt defeated Darien Malone of Rapid City Stevens 16-0 in the finals. At 138, Clay Radenz of Century finished unbeaten after scoring a finals injury default over Nicolas Anderson of West Fargo. Though Nicholas Anderson was beaten in the finals, West Fargo 220 Ben Anderson did get the Packers a title. Anderson defeated Henrik Jacobsen 5-1 at 220.
