After suffering back to back losses in two bouts earlier this morning, Mary’s Tate Barnhardt capped his Marauder career in style with a second period fall over St. Cloud State’s Garrett Vos. Barnhardt scored a first period single leg takedown and went to work on top, nearly scoring nearfall and scoring well over a minute of riding time before the end of the period. With choice in the second, Barnhardt took the bottom position extended his lead to 3-0 with a quick escape. Barnhardt then found another single leg and buried Vos with a nearside cradle as the St. Could wrestler attempted to scramble.
Barnhardt’s fantastic Marauder career ends with a fifth place finish at the NCAA tournament. The Bismarck St. Mary’s Central product is also a two-time All-NSIC first team wrestler and holds the University of Mary Division II win record.
