The Bismarck Demons didn’t have enough to win the Rumble on the Red on Saturday, but they did manage to put up 143.0 points; good enough for third pace behind Champion Perham and perennial AAA Minnesota power Apple Valley. The Demons received individual championship performances from Ryan Ripplinger (138) and Chase Dockter (285), and six other Demons finished in the top eight. Ripplinger scored three falls, a technical fall, and a decision in what was a dominant showing on the campus he has committed to compete at at the college level. Dockter defeated Luke Parzyck of White Bear Lake, MN 5-3 in the 285 pound final.

The only other North Dakota team in the top ten was New Salem-Almont. The high Holstein finisher was Chauncey Dittus, who fell to Apple Valley’s Sebas Swiggum in the finals. Clay Gerhardt (120), Tayt Wolding (126), and Isaiah Huus (170) all placed for the Holsteins.

Bismarck St. Mary’s Central’s Reece Barnhardt was North Dakota’s first champion at 120. Barnhardt and opponent Cael Swensen of Wayzata, MN traded first period takedowns before going to overtime knotted at 4. In the one minute neutral overtime, Barnhardt scored a two-point takedown on a in a scramble situation for the 6-4 victory.

At 126, Hettinger/Scranton’s Kyle Burwick battled through an injury to grab his second straight Rumble title by fall over Bismarck Century’s Clay Radenz.

In a battle of nationally ranked wrestlers at 195, Bismarck Legacy’s Matt Kaylor, fell by 3-2 decision to Ty Moser of Perham.
