As a freshman in 2015-16, Tanner Crissler had a breakout season with a 17-14 record. Crissler then missed the entire next season recovering from an ACL injury and finished 6-14 in his return last winter. The Turtle Mountain Community, ND, graduate had some nice moments last year including an overtime loss to MSU-Moorhead’s Joe Schumacher in dual competition and a 9-7 defeat at the hands of Upper Iowa All American Damian Penichet. Though both of those matches ended with the other wrestler getting his hand raised, they show that at his best Crissler is capable of competing with everyone in the NSIC and solidifying the 149 pound weight class for the Beavers. For the Beavers to have a successful dual season, they will need Crissler’s veteran presence in the lineup and getting wins.
Behind Crissler is sophomore Max Miller, and three true freshman including Rugby, ND native Joey Berg. Miller was 1-3 in competition last season.
