NDSU has released its full slate of matches for the 2017-18 wrestling season after having released just its home schedule yesterday. Read about the homes schedule HERE.
After a disappointing NCAA tournament last march in which the Bison were without an All American for the third consecutive season, the coaching staff has beefed up the schedule by adding a trip to Iowa that will include a November 17 match in prestigious Carver Hawkeye Arena against the Iowa Hawkeyes, as well as a meeting with the newest member of the Big 12, Northern Iowa.
The tournament slate for NDSU includes the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invite Dec. 1 as well as a return trip to Nevada for the Reno Tournament of Champions Dec. 17. After having attended the Midlands the past two season, NDSU has instead chosen the South Beach Duals as their tune up for the second half of the season Dec. 29.
The Lone trip East for NDSU features two away duals with Pittsburgh and West Virginia, and the regular season ends as it usually does with the Battle for the Border Bell at South Dakota State 2/18. South Dakota State has taken the last two meetings from the Bison and this year should be another barn burner.
There will be four North Dakotans on NDSU’s roster this fall. Dylan Urbach and Taylor Nein both saw varsity action last season and return. On top of that, incoming freshmen Brandon Metz and Jesse Shearer, both three time state champions from West Fargo, will begin their careers this winter.
