Andre Baguma, a former high school standout at Fargo Davies, finished 2-2 at the NJCAA national championships for Northland Community and Technical College (Thief River Falls, MN). Seeded eighth coming into the event, Baguma won his first two matches 7-1 and 12-5 before falling in the quarterfinals by fall to top seed Antonio Andrade. Baguma was then edged in the blood round 3-1 by Landon Brown of Western Wyoming. Baguma and Brown traded escapes through three periods before Baguma attempted an errant lateral drop in overtime that Brown countered for the winning takedown.
It was a successful first season of college wrestling for Baguma, who has another year of NJCAA eligibility.
