Three Cadet North Dakotans remain alive after the first day of the USA Wrestling Freestyle and Greco-Roman National Championships in Fargo. New competitors will enter the fray when the Junior Division begins Sunday morning at 9:00 A.M. Bismarck’s Clay Radenz advanced the farthest on the topside of the bracket, scoring three wins at 120 pounds before dropping a round of 16 match to nationally ranked Caleb Rathjen of Iowa. Radenz starts with Cameron Lacure Sunday morning and needs three more wins to gain All American status. Wilfried Tanefeu and Noah Savageau, also both of Bismarck, will also continue in the wrestlebacks today with three wins needed for All American status.
Four Cadet girls scored win as Team North Dakota continues to build it’s program. Sophie Smith, Sierra Ramberg, Abigale Johnson, and Lizzie Massine all got wins, but none were able to advance to All American status. Returning Cadet All American Sophie Smith was upended twice in a strong 122 bracket and finished 1-2.
