The qualifying tournament for the five North Dakota USA Wrestling sponsored Heartland Duals teams is set for Friday, March 15 at Mandan Middle School. Qualifying wrestlers will head to Council Bluffs, Iowa April 12-14. North Dakota USA Wrestling sponsors two elementary School, two middle school, and one women’s team for this event. Wrestlers competing in the qualifier must register via Trackwrestling by 9:00 AM March 15. On-site weigh-ins go from 4:00-4:30 PM with the qualifier tournament beginning at 5:00 PM.
Elementary entries must be in grades 1-6 and under the age of 14.
Middle School entries must be in grades 6-8 and under the age of 16.
Women’s division entries must be in 1-8 grade and under the age of 16.
North Dakota’s best middle school wrestlers have spring boarded success in this event into success at the High School level as freshmen. Ten placers from this year’s NDHSAA state tournament competed on the Middle School Heartland Dual team last year. Of those wrestlers, Tyler Porter (West Fargo) and Brecken Lura (Carrington) finished third in their respective high school weight classes.
