Ream and Fogarty Advance to Big 12 Finals for NDSU

Clay Ream and Andrew Fogarty will look to become the first and second individual Big 12 champions for North Dakota State University tomorrow afternoon in Tulsa, OK.  Both Bison advanced to the finals with victories in Saturday evening’s semifinal round.  Seeded first coming into the tournament, Ream wasn’t tested on his way to the finals.  The 3X NCAA qualifier scored two major decisions, 10-2 over West Virginia’s Zachary Moore in the quarters and 12-4 over Iowa State’s Chase Straw in the semis.  Ream will wrestle #2 seed Archie Colgan of Wyoming in the finals.

Fogarty advanced through the top side of the bracket from the fourth seed, scoring a quarterfinal victory by 16-0 technical fall over Northern Colorado’s Keilan Torres before knocking #1 seed Wyoming Cowboy Branson Ashworth to the wrestlebacks with a 3-1 decision.  Fogarty will wrestle Oklahoma State All American Chandler Rogers in the finals.

In the wrestlebacks, NDSU has three wrestlers still battling for a spot at the NCAA championships.  125 Paul Bianchi will wrestle in a seventh place bout tomorrow morning against Sean Williams of Fresno State with the winner taking the final NCAA allocation for the Big 12.  Williams defeated Bianchi 10-6 in the first round of the tournament today.  133 Cam Sykora and 285 Dan Stibral need wins tomorrow to guarantee themselves a spot in Cleveland for the NCAA tournament.  Sykora will need one win tomorrow to finish in the top six and advance, while Stibral will need two wins and a third place finish to qualify.
