Though we do not know the specifics, NDSU assistant Jarrod Garnett confirmed on the NDwrestle podcast this week that the Bison will have some big names on the schedule for the upcoming season. Garnett divulged that Big 12 champion and NCAA runner-up Oklahoma State will make a trip Fargo for a Big 12 dual next season. The Cowboys return five All-American wrestlers to their lineup including two-time NCAA champion at 141 pounds, Dean Heil.
Garnett also confirmed that the Bison will make a weekend trip to Iowa at some point, meeting with The University of Iowa and Northern Iowa. While the exact date of the Iowa dual trip is unknown, Garnett did confirm that the Bison will be apart of the Iowa City Duals, which the Hawkeyes typically hosts in mid-November. Earlier this summer our friends over at IAwrestle confirmed that the University of Buffalo is expected to compete at the Iowa City Duals as well.
Northern Iowa, along with Fresno State, are the newest additions to a Big 12 wrestling conference that continues to get stronger since it merged with the Western Wrestling Conference two years ago. A trip to The University of Iowa will mean competing in the most heralded arena in college wrestling, Carver-Hawkeye.
NDSU will release a full schedule sometime later this summer.
