What has long been Mary’s weakest weight may now be its strongest. Gerardo Jaime, who qualified for the national tournament last spring as an undersized 285, is down to 197 this season. Jaime’s move allows head coach Adam Aho to take things slowly with prized Bismarck (Legacy) recruit Matt Kaylor if necessary. Jaime and Kaylor wrestled at the Dean Walker Memorial Throwdown in mid-September, and the match was tight. The positive here is that Mary has two legit 197’s on their roster. You would be hard pressed to find another Division II team witha problem like that. Mary adds depth with sophomore Gabe Anderson. Anderson has been a valuable part of Aho’s program for the last two seasons.

After redshirting in 2019 and and seeing teammate Gerardo Jaime qualify for the national tournament, Junior Dom Tudor has to feel pretty good coming into this season healthy. Tudor is a full 285 and with three years of college wrestling under his belt, should be in great position to make his own run toward the podium. Super Region V champion Jordan Will of Minot state is back, but isnt likely to be in the Beaver lineup this November when Mary meets Minot State for the first time. When the two do meet, it will be a great indicator as to where Tudor stacks up with the rest of the country. Behind Tudor us Mary jounreyman Emmitt Brooks, who has filled in for the team admirably over the last few years. Montana native Levi Malcolm is a likely redshirt.
